Rhubarb Recruitment is helping The Royal York & Faulkner Hotel in Sidmouth, Devon with the recruitment of a Lead Chef for its Blinis Cafe-Bar & Bistro.
Blinis, with its own well-equipped satellite kitchen, is owned and operated by the hotel which has its own brigade and caters for 120 guests in the main hotel restaurant.
This Chef job in Devon will involve single-handedly running all aspects of the Blinis satellite kitchen, including ordering, ensuring H&S compliance, creating the weekly specials menu, and of course, hands-on cooking. The kitchen enjoys the support of the main hotel kitchen where needed and draws on shared dry stores etc, but you will essentially be responsible for running all aspects of your own operation. This is a rare & exciting opportunity for a creative chef to single-handedly run his or her own kitchen, and to work with fresh, locally sourced modern British cuisine. A great opportunity for a creative and enthusiastic Sous Chef who is ready for his/her first venture into a Head Chef role.
The Bistro has a 48-cover dining room, serving breakfast, brunch & lunch. The menu includes snacks & a set 2 or 3-course offering with changing specials.
Applicants must have experience at a Sous Chef level running fresh food, and modern kitchens, and must be comfortable working alone in his/her own kitchen.
Private or shared accommodation is available at a subsidised rate close to the hotel including the option of a two-bedroom flat for a Chef + partner adjacent to the hotel.
Salary £29,800 per year plus tips worth in the region of £3,500 per annum and very good quality and discounted accommodation.
