Rhubarb Recruitment is recruiting for a Sous Chef job vacancy on Jersey in the Channel Islands at a leading luxury hotel operation. The hotels offers two restaurants with 2 kitchens, one formal dining (2 rosette standard) and the other is a Brasserie – all fresh menus – in a setting of outstanding quality and natural beauty. You should be comfortable working in formal rosette standard kitchens and also more informal Brasserie kitchens as you will work between both kitchens.
We are looking for a Sous Chef who is experienced in running all areas of a busy fresh food kitchen. Applicants for this Sous Chef job should have a solid understanding of what it takes to run a commercial kitchen in support of the Head Chef; including working with stocks and sauces and grill, but also the operational side that includes staff management, stock management, health and safety and managing the kitchen brigades in chefs absent days. Equally important is attitude; we are looking for hard working professional candidates that will become an integral part in leading the team along side the Head Chef.
Salary is paid hourly, based on a contracted minimum 40 hours per week, however the busy summer months can involve a considerable amount of overtime (around 55 hrs per week) which is paid as overtime. Double time is paid on bank holidays.
Salary paid hourly from £13 to £14 per hour.
